FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS

Any true teacher uses her skill so that her students can find the happiness that comes from discovering their purpose in life and succeeding in it. The following is a letter from an alumna to Mrs. Riordan, the head of MHCA's business department. Talk about a faculty achievement!

Mrs. Riordan,

I just came home from the bank, and I was going to email you. Without you, this networking opportunity would not have been possible. I cannot thank you enough for starting the internship program while I was still at MHCA. Today was my first day, and it truly was a hands-on experience. As soon as I arrived, I was seated at a company [station], and given work that needed to be done. I worked mainly with Rich today, and he explained everything thoroughly and clearly. My first day was truly a success.

I feel very welcomed by Paul, Bob, and Marlene because they remembered me from three years ago. Even though my group was the first batch of interns from MHCA at this Bank, we are remembered. Being remembered speaks highly of what you (Mrs. Riordan) taught us in the many different business courses … at MHCA. Through this internship, I am able to apply what I learned in the classroom to an actual work environment. This summer is the perfect time to have such a great opportunity because I am graduating next May from Rutgers.  If things go well over the summer, and if there is an opening next May, I plan to apply for a full-time opportunity with The Bank of New York Mellon. If there is not an opening next May, then I plan to use the skills and knowledge that I will acquire in this internship, and use it towards my first entry level job after college.

I feel that working for The Bank of New York Mellon is allowing me to gain valuable experience, and I consider myself lucky to have such a great opportunity. Again, Mrs. Riordan thank you so much for selecting me to be a part of the internship program back in 2005.
