FAITH
CELEBRATED
Faith
is expressed in an ongoing relationship with God that is
strengthened through prayer and the sacramental life. Our
students are not only instructed in these important aspects
of Christian life, but are given every opportunity to experience
an environment permeated by faith. Prayer and worship are
weaved into everyday life. School-wide liturgical celebrations,
varied prayer experiences, celebrating the seasons of the
liturgical year, class retreats, opportunities for the Sacrament
of Reconciliation and other religious events are a regular
part of life at MHCA. Students are encouraged to participate
in the liturgical life of their own parishes and have the
opportunity to be prepared to serve as Lectors and as Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion.

Ash
Wednesday
Prayer,
sacrifice and almsgiving, not frozen fish sticks, are central
to the Catholic understanding of Lent. On Ash Wednesday,
the tradition of ashes, which we have simply mantained from
biblical times, stood as a reminder that we all need change
and a reordering of priorities in our lives. It must lead
to a deeper relationship with Christ and a more generous
service to our neighbor. Nourished by Jesus in the Eucharist,
students and teachers left with a greater resolve to allow
the Paschal Mystery to touch their lives.
