Once their mood boards were created, each student was given the challenge to design a specific product category that was inspired by their theme: bridal, dinnerware, fashion accessories, home furnishings and a party decor.

They did an outstanding job!

Receiving accolades this season were Emilia Cabaero, Isabel Condon, Hai-yan Koenig, Nora Maloney, Claudia Olivero, and Maya Watters. In early February, Hai-yan earned the rare distinction of a perfect score for the day. At the Grand Tournament on Saturday, February 29th, one of our newest members, freshmen Meghan Rydell, was recognized for excellence in Original Oratory. She took home a fifth place trophy in a very crowded field of experienced competitors. The team would like to thank Ms. Church, Mrs.Evans, Mrs. Hess, Mr. Sullivan and a fabulous group of parents for their support this year. Team coach Mrs. Sullivan couldn’t be prouder of this young team and looks forward to its bright future. ]]> <![CDATA[Focus on Ministry]]> //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127436 //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127436 Close to 60 students took part in last week's Oratory Night from MHC Academy, Salesian High School, and their friends. The evening began with Adoration, continued with fellowship and food, and concluded with games in the gym. The saint of the month was Blessed Laura Vicuna, a student from our Salesian Sisters school in Argentina in the early 1900s, who offered prayers and sacrifices for her mother. The students were encouraged to think of someone for whom they could offer their Lenten sacrifices. ]]> <![CDATA[Focus on Physics]]> //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127385 //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127385 Students in Honors Physics have been studying the conservation of energy and its application to the design of roller coasters. Teams of students worked together to design a roller coaster with two loops, a horizontal curve, and a means of safely slowing down the riders at the end of their wild ride. They tracked the fluctuation in total energy, and its components gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy. Their marble roller coasters were tested, filmed and analyzed. ]]> <![CDATA[Focus on Salesian Life]]> //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127435 //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127435 The theme of this year's Junior Retreat was "Beauty, Truth, and Joy: Living a Salesian Life." Students participated in a variety of activities that helped to open their eyes to the beauty around them, the truth of the Church's teachings, and the joy of living close to Jesus. All of this was brought into the context of Salesian Spirituality with student witness talks and group reflections. ]]> <![CDATA[Focus on The Sciences]]> //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127396 //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127396 Students in Environmental Science have studied the albedo effect and its impact on the solar radiation reflected into outer space. They were challenged to create a scale model design of a sustainable home that leaves a minimum impact on the environment. Once designs were approved, students began building scale models of their designs. Requirements included: a method to use rain water and gray water, electricity, heat and air conditioning provided by renewable forms of energy, minimal carbon footprint and composting systems to create soil for rain gardens.]]> <![CDATA[International Night]]> //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127388 //www.maryhelp.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=127388 On Friday, February 7th, students, parents, faculty and staff gathered together for our annual celebration of family, culture, and food at International Night.

Held in the cafeteria in Sacred Heart Hall, a feast of homemade international cuisines and desserts were enjoyed by all!
