Team Information: Varsity Softball is a Spring sport at MHC Academy, coached by our Athletic Director, Mrs. Davida Gotha-Ostrander.

Season Summary: The Blue Jays had a much more competitive season in 2017. We graduated four seniors in 2017, including Giuliana Gentile, who led the team both offensively and defensively with highest fielding percentage and highest batting average. Also, Captain Meaghan Wisniewski, who was a strong leader and asset to the team both on and off the field. Other players who were a big part of our season included sophomore pitcher, Bryonna Richburg, who followed closely behind Gentile for highest batting average and highest fielding percentage. Richburg doubled her strikeout numbers from her freshman season, and cut her walks down by a third. Junior catcher Natalie Lamendola was a big asset both behind the plate and when she was up at bat. Newcomer to the game, freshman Emily Toresi, who is a strong and skilled athlete was an important addition to the outfield and made some amazing defensive plays throughout the season.

Looking ahead we have to replace our whole infield this 2018 season. We are looking to not only our returning players to step up into these positions but also some of our freshmen as well. We have been working hard to improve our program every year and this season is no different. We are looking to Junior pitcher, Bryonna Richburg, who through two years of varsity pitching experience has grown in both strength and confidence. We are confident that she will lead the team on the mound when necessary, and will also have a strong defense backing her up.
