Summary of Experience
After earning an Associate's Degree in Journalism from Middlesex County College, I began freelance news reporting in the New Brunswick area. I gained experience in interviewing, researching, writing, and communication. I then earned both my Bachelor's and Master's in English Literature. with a minor in Journalism at Montclair State University. From there, I earned my teaching experience, I have worked within the English Department throughout my career, teaching literature, writing, and communication research skills. I have also taught Communications and TV Production, where I have been able to combine my journalism and media experience to teach with a hands-on approach. 

Personal Message
Mary Help has developed me as a person and as a teacher beyond all of my expectations. I have learned that some of the best moments in teaching come when you have been able to help develop a new strength in a student or spark their first interest in something that they later learn to enjoy. As an English teacher, my greatest aim is to develop a student's love for literature. I want students to see literature as more than another essay that they have to write, but as a way to develop their imagination, excitement, and opinion, and their ability to see things from new perspectives. I want students to feel that they are free to ask any questions they want in my classroom and develop a sense of appreciation for reading and the world of imagination.
