Basketball

Team Information: Basketball is a Winter Sport that offers both Varsity & JV levels here at MHC Academy. 

Season Summary: The Varsity Basketball team finished with a winning record of 11-6. Stat leaders for the season included: TOP SCORES - Giuliana Russo (‘24) 143 pts, Raquel Jacquet (‘22) 125 pts, Sarah Hart (‘22) 104 pts and Olivia Fanning (‘23) 96 pts; REBOUNDS - Hart 180 rebounds and Fanning 163 rebounds; STEALS - Jacques 50; BLOCKS - Hart 64. 

 20-21 Season Recap: The 2020-2021 Season returned five varsity players, Alyssa Cogdell '21, Jesley Delgado '21, Paris Tampol '21, Sarah Hart '22 and Raquel Jacquet '22, four of which who were starters. The Varsity Team finished with a record of 7-5. The lead scorer for the Blue Jays this year was Senior #23,  Alyssa Cogdell with 142 points, followed by Freshman #15 Giulia Russo (87pts) and Junior #20 Raquel Jacquet (76pts).  The statistics for highest rebounds and blocks were driven by both Senior #13 Paris Tampol and Junior #33 Sarah Hart, while Senior #35 Jesley Delgado followed them with third highest in rebounds. 

The 2020-2021 team is graduating five seniors: Alyssa Cogdell #23, Courtney Corbett #5, Jesley Delgado #35, Kelly McKenna #10 and Paris Tampol #13. 

19-20 Season Recap: The Varsity Team finished with a .500 record of 9-9, following their 2018-2019 Season record of 11-10. The team was led in scoring by Emily Toresi, Class of 2020, who accumulated 225 points and Alyssa Cogdell, Class of 2021, who had 147 points for the season. Both players were nominated to the Passaic All-County Honorable Mention Team.  The 2019-2020 team graduated four seniors, Emily Toresi, Richael Lamendola, Adriana Viviani and Trinity Hakins, who have each been in the basketball program for four years. 

• Honorable Mention All-County – Alexa Rae Cruz, Class of 2018 and Natalie DeCindio, Class of 2019

• Honorable Mention All-County – Rebecca Brizek, Class of 2017 and Emily Toresi, Class of 2020 

• All-League Honorable Mention – Aaliyah Agarini, Class of 2017
